today went for a meeting with abdullah and hanisah regarding some unit things. as per normal, the rate of the meeting was super slow.

after the meeting, i cycled back home lorh... then something pissed me off down at my block. this f**king van parked at the loading/unloading bay for trucks, which of course blocked my way of cycling to my block's lobby. hmm... it made me fed up because i had to get off my bike and push it over the ledge. stupid driver who parked it there... hope he/she gets involved in a serious accident and his license get voided for years. he don't deserve to drive here! son of a bi...

too bad it's illegal or i would have used my bike to scratch the van's body and burst the tyres. blah... i swear i'm going to take a picture of the vehicle's license plate and send it to MediaCorp News and complain about it over the news, whichever, it's singaporeans' lifestyle -- complain.

and there is another incident which pissed me off today. i was walking on the pedestrian's pathway, listening to my mp3 phone. as usual, i got distracted by the songs, and walked in the middle of the pathway. to my dismay, there was this indian or don't know if he's a bangladeshi, cycling with the same direction of mine, from the back. obviously his bell caught my attention. normally, i would walk to my left so that the bikes can pass by me. but hey, i continued walking in the middle of the pathway, and on top of that, deliberately slowly down my pace.

why?

because instead of ringing the bell once or twice -- or the most thrice -- that bastard rang the bell like almost ten times. and it was so irritating and annoying. of course i won't give way to that f**ker. in the end, he cycled on the grass patch, passing by me.

frankly speaking, sometimes i won't give way to the bikes. because, the pathway is meant for pedestrians. not cyclists.

as a frequent cyclist, myself, i think it is a very wise way to slow down if there are pedestrians in the way, or overtake the pedestrians by cutting through the grass patch. it is so damn rude to just "ring ring.. ring ring." i don't like that attitude. like what... "hey i'm on wheels! give way, you walker!"

sometimes, there are people who will start to scold if the pedestrians don't give way. one incident back at beach road is as such.

i was walking towards this traffic light crossing where i could see some people waiting for the green man. then this guy with his trolley was pushing it towards the crowd. and he was shouting "siam ah! shio zui ah!" or it means "give way! hot water!"

i mean, the trolley is empty, and he shouted "hot water!"? on top of that, there was this couple in the crowd who did not give way to the man with the trolley. i did not know what actually happened, but eventually, the man with the trolley starting to scold some vulgarities like "cheebyee" and "bastard" and "他妈的(tamade)" lolx... of course i didn't get myself involved in the fight.

well, i just think that, it is only right to give way to the pedestrians if you are with your bicycle, tricycle, bike, trolley, or whatever it is that might cause injuries to the pedestrians if accident were to happen. just a piece of thought. but hey, if i'm in my cadet inspector tee shirt, i will for sure defend the victim in the public man.

the upcoming important event of my life is the sec 1 orientation (npcc) camp from 9 to 10 march 2007. well, abdullah and i met up with some of the sec 3s today to settle all the logistics and briefed for the activities on the first day. actually, i'm quite confident that the sec 3s will do a good show, though this is their first time. i hope the cis or officers don't have to step in too much to ensure discipline is upheld.

well, there's a few problems cropped up last minute. like, all the stoves are missing. then they can't set up the command post yet because we have to wait for everyone to finish the tests and lessons on friday before we can touch the classroom. okay, i hope nothing goes wrong on friday. and i hope the stoves are accounted for.

hmm... tomorrow i am going down to home team academy, npcc hq to attend my meeting with the other cadet inspectors who are all going to be the cadet inspectors' basic training course june 2007 instructors. i'm of course one of them. i look forward to work together with the rest of them for what we are grooming a new batch of cadet inspectors.

as for what i have in mind for the june's course, i do not have too much expectations on the trainees that i'm going to be in charge of, either my own adventure training camp group or my course squad. just that i hope they stick to the values of a cadet inspector (picard) and do themselves a big favour by acting like cadet inspectors.

i have been sleeping late these few days. sometimes, i don't even sleep at all.

the reason is... i have been talking over the phone at night for many days with my friend. and we can always chat for hours. that's the first time i can do that. well, it's not something surprising. cos i have no one to chat with over the msn.

blah... now i'm jobless. and i spend my precious moments with my friend... lolx... precious?!? sort of, i think. it's been long ago that i had such wonderful time with a friend, talking cock... not saying that my secondary school friends suck... they rock big time okay? but, i have never tried talking with my classmates for so long, at so late the hours. i think they might be afraid of me then, if i even call them.

well, that's nothing boastful, nor something sad about... life has to go on... nothing is paused for any individual. maybe, perhaps, the video was paused with the || sign... LOLx... you don't get it, i think...

all right now. i'm rather glad for lester and nadira that there wasn't any cold war after the break-up. the break-up wasn't too much of ruthless. but i think it was a unique one, cos the parties are so cool about it even though it happened just 48+/- hours ago... well, good luck to them... i don't even think they know that i wished them good luck in my blog...

all right. for now, i think i better get my brains working to think how should i apologise to my friend who is currently sleeping, for the inability to pick up his call.. lolx.. "inability to pick up the call..." i'm not crippled... my phone was.. lolx...

well, i'm back to blog again. haha...

basically i'm busy with npcc (as usual) and also back from chinese new year celebrations. now it's time for me to move on into march 2007.

first things first, i'm getting my pay next monday. i'm so keen to get it asap!! too bad, i have to wait all the way to monday. oh... now the cny period is over, it's time for me to get a new job that can last me to april when i start my tertiary education. i hope i can find it asap.

let's blog npcc!!!

well, i'm very happy, but shocked, to see jolene back in trainings. thought she would quit for sure. hope that she will bury everything and start everything new again.

suddenly, i have something knocking senses into my mind. it's the story that kenny has been telling me. the tea cup and capacity to hold more tea. which relates to our mindset to learn. although it is not a new thing told to me, it somehow or rather woke me up.

i need to clear all previous grudges and hatred and start new. i will do it! i must.

well, i have talked to the ncos regarding the re-test. they seemed rather not interested in the re-test. i'm not sure whether i'm correct to agree with mr tan, to allow a re-test, but my conscience is calling me to think twice now. i have better tactics to deal with them.

regarding the sec 3 squad, i think i have to start from scratch again. it's the 3rd time i guess. but, being their mentor, not bringing them to higher peak, is my failure. in order to do so, i have to re-do everything. hope it can be appreciated, by the cadets, as well as the teachers.

hmm... today 4 of my ci btc squadmates came down, with another from pasir ris crest. special thanks to shameema, choy peng, juliana, may lwin, and of course, thomas, for the participation and support. i got to learn new things from them as well. some things, i am not going to share it with the rest yet. i'm going to see which is best for the sec 3s, and i will inform again.

hmm... my brothers were laughing at my sec 4s. how badly they did when they were having their tests for 1st class. i was so embarrassed for being the cadet inspector in charge. i do not know if i have to say this to the sec 4s, but then, it's really a fact. the result says it all. you can't blame my brothers, but it is really the fact. i mean, the top scorer wasn't even very good. it was really a letdown. i hope the ncos can treat the second test seriously. if not, i'm calling off the test myself, and just inform the oc that everyone failed. sigh... why are they like that?

lastly, just want to say that i've made up my mind to go for the ci btc june course this year as an instructor. j07, here i come! it's not for being proud or what. but i just want to serve the corps with pride.

been working for going three weeks. tomorrow, or rather, later, will be my last day of work. well, i really like the working environment there. the people there are really friendly, funny, and some are quite lame.

let me list my colleagues out one by one. lolx...

first. we call him "ah huat". a malaysian. he is in charge of the fruits department. everyone there call him "big potato" or 大番薯. because he always call people potato. lolx... there was once he called me potato. he asked if i wanted to eat luo mai kai. but he couldn't shout across.. so he showed me the food, and asked me by using hand signals. because i was tired out by the hectic moving of drink packets, i didn't really notice him. and when i realised he was trying to communicate with me, i asked "me arh?" in mandarin. so he replied "you lah, if not, me meh?.. potato..." in mandarin too... lolx.. he's really funny.

there is this malaysian as well, we call him "ah khen". he is basically in charge of stocks check, and the closure of the drinks department every night. he is also very funny. he is one who always joke with a cashier called mandy. he is the first person i see every day when i report for work. because he is the one standing at the admin post giving me the "promoter" tag and letting me sign in for work.

there is one malaysian called "ah xiang". he is the assistant supervisor in the outlet. basically i meet him during work for drinks sales. he is also another joker, who dislikes the typical singaporean attitude. well, we do have common topic to talk about.

there is another man called "ah ghuan". i do not know if he is singaporean or malaysian. but, i only know he is a stocker who likes to joke with us, and he is the one who always scold the other 2 chinese (from china of course) for being so slow in work.

there is this lady, the one whom many people know (good and bad). she is the so-called "lady boss" in the outlet. we call her "yue li". her laughter is worse than michelle's. LOLx... she likes to joke as well. but i often see her away from my department.

the sixth person is an old man, where i always call him "da kor kor" because i don't know his name. he is the one who checks stock as well as replenishes stocks in the supermarket from my department. he likes to joke with us too. another funny person.

there is this old lady, whose name that is not known by me. she is the one who replenishes stocks as well from my department. whenever i see her, i will ask her in mandarin, "what drink do you want to steal now?" lolx...

woots. i remember this funny lady. wan xia. she is one of the executive i guess. whenever the cashiers need any passwords for any cashcard transactions or any edition of the registering of goods and products, her name can be heard shouted by them. i sometime disturb her by saying "wan xia, cashcard" because mandy always ask for her in this manner. lolx..

oh. there is an assistant executive, we call him "ah hong". he is rather serious, and seldom joke around. well, i have nothing much to say about him too, but sometimes when he joked, he is really funny.

there are 2 chinese, "ah hua" and "ah chen", whose speaking slang is really difficult to decipher sometimes. two jokers. we always disturb them by talking like how china men will do. lolx..

lastly, there is this "ah jun". a temporary worker. he carries goods and products for the customers who needed help. he is sometimes funny, and lame, but sometimes, he has blues too.

those are the so-called superiors we have in the outlet. then, i got to know these girls from yishun town sec. mandy, and annie. both are cashiers, lamers. well, i work with mandy closely sometimes as her counter-in-charge is near to my department. sometimes, when needed, i would help her to pack customers' products into plastic bags, especially during peak hours.

there are many sales promoter in the outlet as well. there is one auntie from fruit tree, who likes to "eat snake". then, there is a 41 year old lady who looks like 30 from heng seng corp. also, there is one girl same age as i am, from allswell. there is this tiger beer promoter, studying in poly, known only as tiger ang. i'm rather a stranger towards tiger ang, but i do communicate a lot with the other promoters, especially the one from allswell since yeo hiap seng is cooperating with allswell's company.

tomorrow would be the last day of work. i must get all their contacts! i must!

will i fail my english? will i not get my distinctions? will i not...?

results are out. congrats to hanisah for being the top scorer, 5 distinctions. congrats to hui yi for having 4 straight a1s. congrats to shikeen for topping in geography. congrats to abdullah for passing mathematics. congrats congrats.

well, i'm totally surprised, and thankful for such wonderful results. actually to be frank, i have yet to hit my target. my target for l1r5 was to be less than 14. but i got 14. lolx... i aimed for 5 distinctions, but in the end i got 3. well, i managed to score a b3 for english, which i was damn happy about. i owe it to mrs lee man... i've always passed my english at the border-line. it's wonderful, really.

once again, i aced elementary mathematics, did not let miss chia down. but i have not done expectedly well for additional mathematics. only a b3. i got a2 for both chemistry and humanities. which i am so happy about. well, physics, letdown again, a b3. lastly, i got b3 for mother tongue. wow!

i'm happy for quite a number of people for getting good results, including people like jonathan, michelle, alvin, and even myself. also, i'm proud to say that, npcc for the first time produced wonderful results. hanisah for being top. abdullah for proving his uncle wrong. well, i'm looking forward for a better result next year =D

ok. enough of o levels aftermath. now it's npcc.

a food for thought.

i'm really disappointed that not many would be able to make it for the 1st class drill. it's not that i'm strict. but seriously, i think they only deserved that kind of marks. siansation.

okay. i'm sort of happy to know that the sec 3s are trying very hard. but i'm not happy with the progress, still. i will see again. hopefully there is parade on the 23rd february since many cis are coming down to canberra on that friday. so that i can showcase the silver unit to the rest. haha... not boasting, but trying to progress still.

ook... think i better go sleep. there's work tomorrow.

THANK YOU MRS LEE!! THANK YOU MRS WHEY!! THANK YOU MDM RAUDHAH!!
SPECIAL THANKS TO MISS CHIA!!!

i have been working at sheng siong amk block 122 since sunday. today would be the fourth day, of course. hmm... another two more days will be the judgement day. the day that will pave our paths for the future. i hope i will do well. i must do well... hope i will not cry and breakdown. even if i will have to cry, i hope i cry for my good results. hmm...

this friday i have my leave taken. i will first cut my hair, which looks like wild grass currently. lolx. i cut my hair not because i'm taking my results, but it is because i'm going back for npcc training. i have missed one. hope i won't miss a second.

well, talking about npcc, there are lots to talk about. abdullah is damn frustrated with the sec 1s over the general knowledge test. haha... hanisah is now busy over the 3rd class drill test on this friday. *i have yet to send her the criteria* well, i myself am not busy already for the 1st class drill test. on top of that, i'm rather relieved that there was someone with maturity to think, to resolve the issue.

to the one who talked peace:
actually it's not whether i want to lead a bunch of ncos with conflict or not, nor is it whether i can manage the job easier or not.

i hoped that this dispute could be settled because it's all about the involved parties. if you were to have conflicts and disputes within your own committee, then you will find a hard time running the whole unit, because you can't coordinate without peace. seriously, i don't mind managing difficult task. it's totally all right for me. because what i need to do is to lay out the task for the executive committee, and set a deadline. and what i just need to do is to monitor the executive committee. if the task is not done by the deadline, then the executive committee is the one who suffer the consequences, from the instructors, and finally the officers.

i guess you do not wish this to happen, right? if so, what's the point of getting the post as ncos, but not able to complete all tasks or assignments set for you?

finally, it's not for the sake of being nco, then you make peace. true. for 2 odd years of friendship, happy days, sad days, everything you gone through together. the shelling by your cadet inspectors, the punishment given by ncos, and the mental and physical torture you guys gone through as cadets, you guys endured it together motivated each other. isn't it something worth remembering? isn't it something worth valuing? so, why for the sake of a conflict, you would want to destroy and forget everything you have gone through together?

think about it. you do not need to answer me, or the cadet inspectors. but i can only tell you that, the cadet inspectors are worried for you guys, not angry for you guys.

last but not least, i'm sure there are some who are having the idea of quitting npcc. i hope you guys would do your best to discourage them from doing so. because, it would definitely be a mental breakdown for those who are still standing in the squad. trust me.

i know, for sure, you would pop by and read my blog. so i'm going to post this entry in rebuttal to the situation.

the issue now is the matter of people not liking his attitude towards the rest. it might not be very nice, but you guys are old enough to think, to solve everything over the table calmly. yes, the attitude of his might be too far. but have you compromised to the very end with him? it takes two hands to clap. even if his attitude is not much of any liking, you still showed him your attitude, as a rebuttal. he is wrong to have done that in the first place. but on top of that, you are also wrong to have showed him your attitude.

it's not the case where everyone hates his attitude, he would be wrong. no, absolutely. the rest of you might not like his attitude, but that doesn't make you right to have rebutted him. in this case, you are wrong as well. in all friendships, there will be bound to be friction between each other. but it is how you resolve everything and save the friendship.

i'm not very sure what's the issue in depth, in details. but i'm very sure that, if in any case, should there be any hostility within the group, then i shan't submit an official proposal to the officers for the 6th non-commissioned officers' committee. you all will not have any post. because, you are not fit to be my ncos in the unit.

i hope this will be resolved as soon as possible. if not, then so sorry, i might need to retract the post of nco from the involved parties as well. i don't wish to have any power struggle, corruption or conflict within my executive committee for the unit.

if you need me to interfere by person, then, you will be sorry. because i will treat the whole matter very seriously, as a cadet inspector for the unit.

work work...

i have started working for 2 days already.

"what work?"

i work under yeo's as drinks packer. for these 2 days, i helped to set up the drinks for display under the shelters or tents (the one you see for pasar malam).

"how to set up?"

just stack up the drinks to layers of 12. the height is twice as high as myself. lolx...

"what's the pay?"

$4.50 per hour for 44 hours. for part thereof, it would be $6.75 per hour.

well, these questions were the questions everyone asked when i told them i am working. lolx... so standard. then, some will end the conversation with:
"eee... so cheap the pay..."

lolx...

well, on monday, when i reached my working destination, i saw a couple of malays and this man, unloading the drinks from the lorry, and loading onto pallets. Then, they will exert full force to get the pallets moved, with a jet (or jack), from one point to the another. i was surprised that i had to do that. lolx... because, i seriously don't have the strength.

as expected, out of 6 workers, i was the first to arrive. subsequently, the rest also came in the end. well, we started to move the drinks. and stacked them up slowly... at first, i thought just passing the drinks from person to person is very easy. well, i realised that i was wrong because, there were still canned drinks, bottled drinks, besides the usual packet ones.

for the first day, we ended off without much problem. earned $49.50 on the first day, clocked 11 hours. for the second day, we started working with bad muscle aches... lolx... not used to it, i guess... the second day, which is yesterday, i earned another $49.50, another 11 hours. waha... it's $99 in total... in only 2 days.

well, the aches for me gone worse today... it's really tiring... and also, i injured my right eye. -.-" now a little swollen... lolx...

i'm going to continue this style of work until this coming weekend. thereafter, i will work as yeo's promoter, at ang mo kio sheng siong. wa... amk leh... that's really far...

hmm... well, my supervisors are rather good. they don't really boss around.

ok... got to work today. hope i can get a half day off, so that i can go back npcc for today's parade.

cheers!

extra trainings!!!

mood: blah blah

well, it's about npcc again.. haha...

hmm, actually, i have been deeply involved in npcc for months even after o levels. i should have gotten a job then... but i'm still not yet working, now. well, i would be working, when everyone is starting to prepare for new year. =D

went to school yesterday to pass down rifle drills to the sec 4s so as to prepare them for their final drill test. hmm, i hope everyone will pass the test. because, i have high expectations on them. well, everyone was able to execute the drills well enough. just a little brush-ups will do them good. hmm... met the sec 3s as well, when they were doing their drills on their own. i was quite happy to know that they wanted their own extra training. at least, for now, i do see effort in them.

for now, before i get my ass off npcc and start to work, i have really got nothing much to do. i would be going to woodlands ring sec and admiralty sec tomorrow. well, it's for npcc again! haha... this is not organised by hq, or the officers. it was, indeed, initiated by me. well, just wanted to put in my part to learn, so that we can help canberra to achieve gold.

sigh... time really flies. it's just about another 2 weeks, and we will be getting back our results. hopefully i do expectedly well. english... oh gosh...

i was looking at some of the e4'06 classmates' blogs. people like, yee meng, lester, jonathan, alison, catherine, dorothy, serene, ling xuan, etc etc. well, just read through their daily rumblings and some sparked-up discussions in their blogs. and i found out something...

LING XUAN FORGOTTEN ME IN HER ROUND OF 40!!! =(
so sad to know that. perhaps, i'm not liked by anybody... like the forgotten... sigh...

adventure training facilities

21st Jan 2007 | 16:36:00

friday was a very pathetic day for npcc training. the training itself became pathetic as well.

ncos were late for their meeting... pt started late... and everyone was dismissed late. well, i'm very disappointed with the sec 4s. because their attitude doesn't seem to be much of nco-like. though i've given enough face to them. and expectations have been set right out at the start. what's with them? what's the problem now? i just do not know...

sec 3s... the nco btc trainees... their drills basically didn't meet up with the standard... their timing, their execution... almost everything... even raising their legs... they can't even raise up high... and they still wanted water break.. i mean, that wasn't supposed to be the standard of our drills... everything is falling apart... everything... sigh...

i just do not know why, why they can't raise up their legs. bend their knees to 90 degrees, and stand up straight. i mean, what do the words "uniformed group" mean? aren't we supposed to be firm in anything? they can't get things said into their heads. i've been telling them... "raise up your feet! raise your feet! 90 degrees! 90 degrees!" but they can't be bothered...

well, i'm just too tired to be bothered about them... let me just take a fucking break from this pathetic drills. let me just give them 2 weeks to change... if they can't be bothered, again, i will drive in the hard way, from then, on. let me show them, how devilish i can be, if they don't do their drills properly.

i'm just so tired... really freaking tired... with their pathetic drills... it's not the matter of whether they are tired or not. but, at the first minute, their sedia is already, like, fuck. fuck is the only word i can describe... i have nothing to say. simply, pathetic.

blah...

well... yesterday went for atf at ubin. we cycled in. a great time though tiring.. haha... hmm, got to know xiang ting, and alan. ya.. took some photos... walked here and there, coordinate some of the activities. hmm... well, at least, i got something to learn there...

atf is tiring... for the cadets, but boring for the cis.. haha.. we were having a meeting at the conference room when everyone was having their wet weather activities.

after atf, we cycled back to jetty. i got off at northpoint. met up with the area cis. had dinner at long john silver. well, at least, area cis are really lame... lolx... people like, alan, eunos, li quan, chi peng and wei loon... but well, the lame gang yesterday was chi peng, alan and i.. we were damn lame, joking about sotong... lolx... we were joking about hwee boon... well, but cis are indeed funny when outside... haha...

sec 1 orientation camp

6th Jan 2007 | 22:50:00
current location: home
mood: tired tired

today just came back home from the secondary 1 camp in school. well, i was one of the facilitators of the camp, together with alison and nadira.

this year's camp wasn't same as the previous ones. the campers were all divided into groups, alpha, bravo, charlie, delta, echo, foxtrot, golf and hunter, instead of the usual 5 houses. i guess the school management is trying to do away with the house system already.

this year's secondary 1 students were as problematic as last year's batch. the leaders could not control the campers well. i guess only i managed to obtain fear from the sec 1s, not the others. i observed how the sec 3 leaders worked. some leaders gave me good impressions, while some don't. people like "ee-fan" (i don't know how to spell his name, but it's pronounced as it), faizal, dayana, "shabi" (likewise, i don't know her name, but pronounced as it) and ashri and roy, they really made mark in leading. they do follow to instructions closely. there's one jing hwee, who's name i don't know how to spell it, he is has leadership potential, but has some attitude problems, which gave a negative outlook.

there were some others, the netballers, some girls, also engraved impressions in my mind, whereby i don't really have any negative thoughts about.

overall, leaders themselves have done their job successfully. but there are still area for improvements. as for npcc leaders, i would not have much to say, because it would still be the same afterall. npcc leaders do have something different in our own way of leading. haha...

there were a number of sec 4s helping in this camp as well. joel, rafael, alvin, keng guan, afiqah, xing ying, lydia, aliff, hazwan, sharini and benedict. these are the few i can remember. well, they did excel in their roles. but one thing to point out, keng guan is always missing in action during the camp. lolx...

out of all the sec 4s, aliff really gave me the deepest impression. he was my runner, administrator for the camp. he's the one who helped me settle the attendance list of the camp, as well as running around the camp getting job done. i really looked upon him as another learning point.

well, my name is make famous again. i guess in the sec 1s' eyes, vincent would be known as "there... the guy who shouted at us in the hall when we were noisy loh..." haha...

there's a camp in mr nasir's school next week, wednesday to friday. i want to go and facilitate as well! haha... i would be joining the school in their leadership training camp, sec 2 camp as well as some other major events...

happy new year

1st Jan 2007 | 18:06:00
current location: home
mood: disappointed disappointed

a happy happy new year to everyone out there. wish that you have your dreams come true and success in everything you do.

well, i'm going for the job interview later. just hope that i can pass it.

yesterday went out with the area 2 cis and ex-cis and also 1 sembawang sec ncc cadet. i only got three words to express my feeling during the outing: laugh out loud.

haha... the area 2 cis are damn lame... not only lame, some wcis are also violent. let me recall, who were there besides me... ben, pei yu, jing feng (if i am not wrong), hwee boon, yong hwee, yin fu (if i am not wrong), kenny, jia ying (if i am not wrong as well) and there's this lao jiao (in dialect; english translation: old bird).

we were wanting to go to marina bay to eat steamboat. but we can't even step on to the bus because it was damn crowded with people. in the end, we changed our venue to lao pat sat. (lao pa sa in chinese hanyu pinyin) we had satays, chicken, la-la (something like clam), gang- gong (a type of vegetable), and stingray. well, the stingray and la-la were both spicy... hence i can't eat them.. too bad, i love these two dishes. so near yet so far...

after the dinner, we went all the way to esplanade to get bonded with other people.. haha... it was damn crowded and we couldn't stay for long on a spot. in the end, we went back to raffles city because it rained, ruining our plans. in the end, we went to kenny's place because the place was too chaotic to carry on our plans. well, we had our countdown in yishun mrt station while waiting for a train. haha... went to kenny's place to play heart-attack. haha... that's why i said the wcis are violent... jia ying actually squashed my right hand... lolx... (exaggerating)

hmm... the night was very fruitful one. at least know new people from the area. haha... cis are all fierce in the area. but they are totally different outside npcc.. haha...

merry christmas and a happy new year

29th Dec 2006 | 06:49:00
current location: home
mood: accomplished accomplished

it's been a long time since d06 has passed out from ci btc. some of you may be wondering, why do we call ourselves d06. actually, officially, we are called the 71st cadet inspectors' basic training course trainees. d06, is just the batch's codename: december 06. ya...

though we've passed out for 6 days long, the feel for bravo in me, myself, (and perhaps in some others), has not yet died out. every day and night, i will definitely be chatting with at least one person in the msn, joking about the times during the residential course, adventure training camp and even the non-residential course.

technically speaking, we kept joking and gossiping about the days in the course, over and over again. haha... seemed dumb? ya... right.

christmas is over, for now. and it's a new year, 2007, in about 2 days' time. well, my new year wish is just to get a stable income and that's all. alison has gotten me down for an interview at her workplace, where people described that place as hell. lolx... hmm... i'm not quite sure how unreasonable can the managers be as my instructors. but like what i've told alison, if worse comes to worst, i will have to talk law with the managers. haha...

in the previous post, i'd say that i'm going to return the ceremonial uniform and get the new shoulder rank in hq. well, it's a bloody communication with a 'mis' in front of it. that makes it MISCOMMUNICATION. haha.. lame... hmm... i guess we will have to return it next year, perhaps in the second week. michelle cannot seem to get through to keng siong or lam bhan. did you hear 2 weird names? no... they are my instructors during the course... haha...

well, these two sirs (or instructors) of bravo were relatively kind. (take note, they were not kind, but relatively kind compared to others)
i could see delta getting scolded every now and then in the course, anywhere, any time, any place, by their one of the kinds' instructor -- shun keng. haha... you may not know this person, but he's the one who scolded me on the very first day for the chalk bag.

actually, shun keng isn't as unreasonable and bastardic as what we thought. he may be fierce, but he is quite approachable. well, he is like me when i'm back in the unit. or should i say, i'm like him? oh well... he emphasise a lot on discipline, more than i do. that's the reason why he got his voice missing in action. lolx...

oh.. back to the comparisons of instructors. at first, i thought it was a pity that li quan wasn't my squad instructor. because li quan is from my own area, of course i know how good (and how bad) he is. but to think of it again, i'm just rather stupid to think that li quan is a very nice guy. he's just as bad as keng siong, or just as good as keng siong.

talking about my squad instructors, lam bhan and keng siong are both good. and i meant it -- good. lam bhan doesn't seem to be able to act fierce. lolx.. although his face looks stern everytime throughout the course, but when he opens his mouth and starts to talk, the voice of his dissolved his stern look. and the trainees couldn't sense the strictness in him anymore... haha...

as for keng siong... he's a person somewhat like abdullah. easy-going at times, very relax. but when he's angry, don't mess around with him... bravo got yelled terribly for being late for 5 minutes, as we delayed the whole batch. we were supposed to open up the bunks for the rest so that they can get changed up into full uniform. as we were marching towards the bunks, keng siong started scolding and continued while we were marching.. lolx... that's funny... i thought. well, in home team academy, everyone is supposed to march from place to place... not walk, or run like in the park, or in the shopping centre. haha...

hmm... as for the adventure training camp, where we were supposed to plan for our own camp, i got to meet lam bhan again... not only he was my squad instructor, he was my atc group instructor as well... the other instructor was doreen. doreen gave me this impression of her being arrogant with that face that almost all of us wanted to slap her after looking at her. but she is really the iron fisted person. i got to learn, from her guidance through the hard way.

from may lwin's blog, a lot should know that i became the in-charge of lodging, which is the job scope of group 5. well, may lwin is my squadmate in bravo, and she was supposed to be the ic of lodging instead of me. she got stressed out, and that's why i became the ic in the end. well, we were encountering a lot of problems during the camp itself. during tent-pitching session, the weather looks good. but out of a sudden, it rained heavily, sending my hopes down to drain, and washing everyone back into the shelter.

the camp itself is 4 days 3 nights. out of the 3 nights, the whole lot of us spend 2 nights in the canteen. and the last night, back in the wet and insect-infested tents. lolx... well, the sleep in the tent is soundly... lolx.. i was snoring, as usual, disturbing the other 5 of them in the tent. haha...

well. everything is over. doreen told me this: "like what i've told may lwin, don't work alone. allocate jobs to the rest..." it's somewhat the same as what she had told may lwin during the break camp. well, because of being the lodging ic, i became famous, or should i say, infamous, among the instructors. during the break camp, the instructors came one round to shake our hands and congratulate us. a lot of the instructors came to me, shaking my hands and said this: "lodging ic right?..." lolx... i was known as the lodging ic... not vincent chan...

oh ya.. one coincidental incident that happened in my atc group was, there was another vincent in the group! haha... he's ng, and i'm chan.

abdullah was in my atc group. so happening... to have the people in the same unit, to be in the same atc group. what a luck! haha... well, he did nothing... REALLY nothing, during the camp. what he did was to mingle around with the rest and to go through motion under my directions as the lodging ic... well, he's smart enough to keep mum throughout.

in the atc, group 5 wasn't as wonderful as thought. the people from bravo, namely may lwin, me, melvin and i've forgotten who's the last one... well, only melvin was optimistic about life in ubin... haha... i hated some of them actually... because of their attitude...

hmm... well, i do like some of them, as in, like working with them... people like wee chuan and eugene. wee chuan is the one that i spent the least time with, but the most memorable one with. he's the one who went to take 'n' levels results, besides kumar. hmm, he's rather optimistic and cheerful, in that sense that he was always smiling. well, he gave a lot of ideas as well.

eugene is another joker in atc group 5. he was a wonderful joker in charlie as well. haha... he's basically the one who supported me when i'm falling as the lodging ic. because of him, i managed to survive through as the lodging ic. but well, i couldn't get the chance to thank him enough. i think that his efforts were not seen by the instructors...

atc group 5, besides known by the others as the lodging group with poor service in lodging, was also known as the super duper sumos, or the sumos in short. well, i'm rather disappointed that the cheer we gotten out of everyone was like.... duh...

hmm... just hope that one fine day, i got to see wee chuan, eugene, and some other bravo-mates again. i'm thinking of going down to area 1 to take a peek soon. si li's unit is the first stop! haha...

cadet inspectors’ basic training course aftermath

25th Dec 2006 | 11:38:00
current location: home
mood: sleepy sleepy

Okay… looks like my internet connection is down again. It’s always like that. I’m sure going to reprimand the customer service officer who is going to attend to my phone call. I’m sure going shoot singnet down right in his/her ear. I’m so going to threaten to terminate my contract and not sign up with singnet anymore. It’s always something wrong with the internet service provider, not me. I don’t know what are they doing. But, simply, there isn’t any pride in work as they simply don’t do frequent checks on their own wiring connections.

Okay… whatever it is. I’m just going to list down a lot of things. Passed out on 23rd December 2006 with that wonder memory in the multi-purpose hall. Oops… I’d forgotten that we have yet to take the books from miss tay’s table. Haha…

Well… yesterday went out with some of my squadmates in the course. Namely, chi peng, mengzhou, Kenneth, jasmine, michelle, xin jie, Melvin and ben. Went to arcade to play some games, watched some movies and ate supper at swensens, all at douby ghaut and orchard. That night, a lot of people were counting down to Christmas. As usual, people were using those foam sprays and sprayed here and there, making a big mess on the roads. I myself was lucky enough not to get into any trouble. But chi peng, mengzhou and Kenneth wasn’t. after the supper, we took a cab home.

I reached home at 2.45am. haha… well… today is Christmas! Who cares?

Hmm… got to go… tomorrow have to go back to home team academy to return the ceremonial uniform and also to take the shoulder ranks. Hmm… cadet inspector is my rank now – no more station inspector!

3 days to go

5th Dec 2006 | 00:54:00
current location: home
mood: blank blank

hmm... these few days have been rather hectic.. i have been sleeping at wee hours and waking up early in the morning. well, i was supposed to meet up with the whole lot of sec 2s at esplanade for a private conferencing about some npcc issues. mr tan gave a red flash, and poof, the meeting ended up in sembawang, just opposite the school. they didn't want to have a meeting school because they would need to wear school uniform. i thought i should, for once, let them decide the venue. in the end, i was the one deciding the venue since the oc had disapproved. well, it's for the students' welfare though...

tomorrow i would have to go back to school again, for another round of npcc meeting with the instructors, kenny sir and mr tan about next year's workplan. hmm... on wednesday, i still have to go back to school again, to meet the sec 4s for the sec 1 orientation camp admin work. well... life's dull...

i don't know why, but i'm so looking forward to the day where the ci btc starts, on 8th. i am not sure what happened to me. perhaps, it's my psychological denial. lolx...

went to benedict's blog at http://whenstylomeetsmilo.blogspot.com/ his post is so freaking surprising lah. lolx... well he's one of the sec 4s that i looked upon and have faith in in being a leader. but for his case, academics pulled him down. well, but i'm sure he is able to do well, still, for his n levels and o levels for the next two years.

npcc- a great burden

2nd Dec 2006 | 08:36:00
current location: home
mood: sleepy sleepy

yesterday went to northland secondary school for a cadet inspector trainees' refresher course whereby the trainees recapped the syllabuses to get the utmost preparation for the cadet inspectors' basic training course. well, the three of us (hanisah, abdullah and i) didn't know the way to the school. so we were trying to get on a cab outside north point. we waited for a long time for the cab- it just didn't came for us- such that we eventually saw the other trainees walking to the school. we were sure, of course.

in the end, we stalked them. lolx... yes, stalked, to the school, and that's the way we got to northland. lolx...

the refresher course was rather dull, because all of the trainees didn't really know each other that well. we did self-introduction in the npcc room. throughout was quite quiet. though strangers, some did help each other, and we did have communicated and came in contact (not physically.. lolx..). after the course, no one managed to get any of their numbers. because everyone went off one by one before we could ask for it.

but there is this enthusiastic fellow from northland. our sec 3 atc best male camper... wei han loh.. lolx... he got my number (not the other way round later). the way he asked became a joke later on that day. "i need your number..." he just asked all of a sudden, without anything else but only that few words. the way he asked was funny because as if he was trying to get hold of my number and.. blah.. sounds sick, i know. but i don't have such thoughts, okay???

hanisah was the only female cadet inspector trainee in area 2. and that became a joke eventually. lolx.. abdullah sure knows how to convert simple facts into lame jokes. haha...

after the course, we went down to north point and had our supposedly lunch while we discussed about the workplan and admin work for next year. hmm.. quite a lot of loopholes weren't big problems after all. quite a lot are solved. that's great.

there's something i don't think i should blog here. lolx... because it's about boots polishing.. hmm... it's not that i used fire and the boots caught with fire. lolx... abdullah and hanisah should know...

okay... i'm going out soon. the next moment when i come online would be on monday. today i'm going to east coast to camp there... sounds fun, but i don't actually like the idea... i would rather sleep at home loh.. i don't know why i don't like this trip, though it has not begun yet. well... perhaps that's my mindset.. blah...

npcc... i still have lots to do... another refresher course is on tuesday in school with kenny sir, shikeen and wei han. hanisah.. he's coming down leh! lolx... there would be a meeting with the sec 2s on monday at 1.15pm, another meeting with the sec 3s.. still unconfirmed yet.. sebastian liew, you got to hurry! another meeting with the sec 1 orientation camp committee. and then thursday we sign in for the cadet inspectors' basic training course. oh my god... 6 more days... jia you! kampateh!!!

lolx.. that's lame.

"Pain is temporary; pride is forever" that was what i saw from mr jason tan's display picture in the msn. though not his quote, but it is really very meaningful...

annual camp 2006

30th Nov 2006 | 15:00:00
current location: home
mood: busy busy

hmm.. while I wait for the game server to get ready again, let me blog something that i've almost forgotten about... yes, it's the annual camp 2006, from 22nd november to the 24th.

from the cadets' blogs, i understood how some of them feel after the camp. i could really sense some hostility within the sec 2s, and sense of accomplishments within the sec 3s. also, i realised the seniors are happy to see that the unit has grown a lot since we passed out as sergeants, staff sergeants and station inspectors of the unit. i'm still not really in contact with the sec 1s. maybe only one person, and that's hui ying. though we chat sometimes in the msn, i'm not really close to her (or the other way round) as friends like how close the sec 3s and i is.

hmm.. that's beside the point. well, i myself think that the annual camp was a success, to see the sec 3s really put in their heart and soul into running the whole show. even though there wasn't a campfire on the second night, the farewell night was definitely above expectations. hmm.. in this camp, i did not interfere in the activities much. oh... i meant, the frequency of me yelling at the top of my voice has decreased dramatically compared to the previous camps. haha... the unit should know, who's the devil among the sec 4 ncos. lolx...

okok... back to the story, let me recount of what had happened over the days in the camp.

1st day:

they did have lots of activities from ice breaking to dragon boating. hanisah, abdullah and i had missed all the fun because we had to go all the way down to home team academy, npcc hq, to register for the cadet inspectors' basic training course. that's when the reality slapped the three of us hard in our face: npcc is not supposed to be fun for seniors too. why? because we were made to run here and there, do drills even just before dismissal. and then, there were lots of scoldings and rantings by the ci trainers over there. i myself got the scolding as well. i shan't repeat the story again for what had happened. hmm.. thereafter, we had to make our way home to take our bankbooks so that we could get our giro forms filled up at the bank in chong pang. after all the admin works, we had our lunch in the command post back in school and that was about 4pm already. then we started flipping through the ci manual training handbooks to revisit all the trainings and syllabi. blah.. the first day, to sum up, wasn't as fun as expected.

at night, the campers had their dinner, wash up, and sentry duties. i couldn't remember what activities were they doing then as well... haha...

2nd day:

the next morning, we actually had our "breakfast" which is air (which includes oxygen, carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and other noble gases in the atmosphere). in other words, we didn't have our breakfast. lolx...

then again, after the so-called breakfast, we went to chong pang bank again because abdullah couldn't get his identity verified on the previous day. in the end, he did eventually. took a cab, and we headed back to home team academy again. then we saw this "what-do-you-think ma'am" and we got ourselves registered officially with her. after all the admin work, we took the bus, and then train, back to school where it was supposedly lunchtime. hmm.. had the lunch, took a 5-minute nap, and we continued with the camp activities. for hanisah and abdullah, i'm not sure what did they do actually, but i was more of with the campers after our 1 hour training together with shikeen. hmm... but seriously, i did forget a lot of things that we did on the second day as well.

in the late afternoon, we had ball games: captain's ball and dodge ball. but the weather was unfavourable. oh yea.. the teachers and seniors joined in the dodge ball game but we lost terribly. lolx... shoots... nothing much as the seniors went to wash up and change up in preparation for the farewell night. after the washing up, we saw yee meng, together with band members, in the middle of the parade square to get the campfire pit set up for their campfire. (duh... sounds so stupid... of course the campfire pit is set up for campfire lah... bbq meh? lolx...)

farewell night.. hmm.. smoothly run. the performances were rather dull, i would say. but i could see that most of them had put in their efforts already. that's something that we cannot lie about. the food was still a little above expectations. i was expecting what abdullah and hanisah was expecting too... the desserts.. hmm.. well... it costs money so we shouldn't complain too much though. kenny sir came in the midst when we were eating. after the prize giving and speeches made, we had this hand-shaking session. starting with yee meng, hanisah, and then me, shikeen, etc etc... hmm... after one round of formal hand-shakes, i made my way back to the first junior. and we had an informal handshake session.. haha... ran 1 complete round with those high-fives. hmm... well... after that, it was the photo-taking, and then a short session with kenny sir behind the f&n rooms.

oh yea.. miss tay gave me this figurine with a cadet saluting. i like it a lot. though simple, but i really can sense miss tay's sincerity in it. thanks miss tay! =)

well... the second night wasn't fun as expected as well. the night trail was cancelled. blah... i hate that decision but too bad, i couldn't do anything. at night, the seniors (namely hanisah, abdullah, shikeen and i) went to the study corner for our sleep as the command post was noisy with the ncos playing the "concentration" game in it. the 3 of them told me that i snored thunderously. lolx.. sorry... my windpipe is narrow.. you can't blame me. the cadets who did sentry duties then were all amused too. oh well.. i guessed i made a fool out of myself that night.

3rd day:

this day was the day of laughter and cheers. the so-called highlights of the camp. but it was way after the physical training and area cleaning. and that's when i did a lot of interfering. i took the opportunity to enforce the rules and regulations (the same old people would start rambling: "arh... vincent and his law again... lolx). they did 20 push ups as a form of punishment. but i did slacken a lot. or else, i would have shouted during the push ups because some didn't even finish the 20. argh... forget about it.

the highlights of the camp: the telematch. it was rather short because there was only 4 stations. the first station. round caterpillar. the campers were supposed to form a circular caterpillar and move in a circular motion to complete 5 rounds. the second station. wet sand crawl. the campers were supposed to form a single file, and crawl across the wet long jump pit. the third station. the campers were supposed to pass the water bags by throwing from one person till another. the fourth station. just a cheer. and between the stations, the campers had to carry a table of water bags, ensuring that they don't fall. and that's their highlights of the camp. though it was very very super short an activity, the campers were bonded close enough then. earth trooper won this activity. hmm.. well.. mr lathif was very happy about that.. haha...

that's the end. hmm.. earth trooper came in second for the whole camp, before fire knight, and that's mr lathif's target for earth trooper... haha... well.. wind ranger came in first again. and that's 3 years in a row already. or is it 4? not sure though. but one thing that i'm sure is that, earth trooper is no longer the last. lolx..

hmm.. before i sign off, just want to say this to the sec 2s (2006):

no matter what happens, stay as a squad, do your best, strive for the better. nco life is not as easy as imagined. good luck!

my new blog website

29th Nov 2006 | 12:04:00
current location: home
mood: awake awake
listening to: beautiful- kevin fok

and yea! this is my new blog website. **away from blogspot**
by the way, you might find that my style of blogging would change here and there, okay?

yea, where was I in the previous blog? ooh... don't worry, i won't shut down http://lifeofcwc.blogspot.com. i would let it stay for memories - all the arguments, debates and craps. haha... well, since this is just a new blog, i shan't make it too long.

i won't be blogging from 2nd december till 27th december. the main reason is because, cadet inspectors' basic training course is nearing. the 16-day course. haha... people might think that i won't survive. some whom had faith in me says i would.

my endurance span is rather short, and that's a fact. but with words of encouragement from many people out there, i'm determined to go through the pain, and survive the 16-day visit to hell. (now i'd realised that my home isn't hell; the npcc hq is)

before i sign off, let me take this opportunity to thank the following people, in random order:
= dayana (my fellow nco-mate) for your encouragement
= kenny sir for your faith and willingness to help us
= mr jason tan for letting know that pain isn't the key
= miss tay for your fullest support
= mrs tay for your kindest understanding
= mr lathif for your fullest support as well
= diyana (sec 2 this year) for your support
= andrew ex-ci for your encouragement
= sufian ex-ci for your luck

and last but not least, thank you, abdullah and hanisah, for your accompany... =)

i would never forget that ci's bloody face when he scolded me one-to-one in npcc hq because of that pouch! (it's a chalkbag anyway)

okay... got to go now. npcc, here i come!

ps: have you spotted my change of style in blogging?
